Situated in San Angel, a peaceful yet trendy neighbourhood of Mexico City, Cerrada de Cortes is a lovely residence created by Dcpp Arquitectos, perceived as a relaxing retreat, spacious enough to accommodate a many loved ones. In spite of being surrounded by other residences, the house feels intimate and welcoming. The residence opens up to its interior courtyard (the back of the property), which also feels private, due to the high walls bordering the house on both sides. “The main thought for the property was to develop an open space on the ground floor for all the public activities, with the possibility of generating a series of diverse configurations.”

The rectangular-shaped house has two levels: an open strategy living space integrating also a kitchen and a dining location, located on the ground floor and the upper level, accommodating the much more private areas, the bedrooms. The architects accountable with the project attempted to provide a home that breathes, that is usually in a direct relation with the outdoors. The environments are getting connected via a covered terrace, serving as a transitory area among the interior and the exterior.
