The Hotel Cort, a modern day boutique property in Palma de Mallorca, Spain has been transformed from a bank built over a century ago. The process was achieved by a collaboration in between interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán and architects Vicente Alcover Ripoll and Luis Morant Jaume.
This hotels boasts 14 suites and two double rooms, and is nestled in the heart of the historic town, which offers a cultural blend of Roman, Moorish and even European influences. Created to concentrate on the entire guest knowledge, suites, lounges, the restaurant and terrace all provide a strong connection to this wealthy, cosmopolitan city and its nearby island beaches, although providing a homelike atmosphere.
A soothing palette of white and blue washes the modern day interiors in a sea of elegance. Woods are naturally-bleached, lending a rustic yet earthy power to the well-appointed spaces. Most eye-catching can probably be the wealthy periwinkle blue velvet that appears in plush lounging chairs, cross-legged ottomans and wood-framed dining chairs. The sophisticated hue is a subtle–and enticing–reminder as to the how close the azure ocean is to this charming boutique hotel.
On the ground floor, the restaurant and main bar serves Mediterranean cuisines with a regional Spanish flair, and characteristics wall-upon-wall of racked wines. A mosaic tile floor resonates with conventional Mallorcan beauty, even though tables are intimately arranged. Upstairs, the mezzanine bar overlooks the restaurant. An outdoor sitting area connects with the Palma’s central plaza featuring as stunning mature olive tree, becoming a spot to loosen up, sip and see-and-be-noticed.
The suites are a superb place to genuinely escape following a day shopping or exploring the bustling city, or playing on a sun-drenched beach. Spaces are tranquil, following the same white-and-blue color palette, with pure white designer bed linens, sophisticated paneling, rustic wood flooring and framed maps inspired from the seaside aesthetic. Some rooms offer you private balconies and fireplaces, with a prime-level duplex featuring its own rooftop terrace with sun lounges.
Hotel Cort is a modern day boutique property, providing a far-away Mediterranean island vibe intermingled with an ancient city’s splendor.
