palmikko A Graphic Textile Pattern, Woven In Ink amazing ideas

“With this pattern i wanted to maintain a hand drawn feeling…a woven illusion,” says Finnish designer Minttu Somervuori, of her arresting, ink-drawn Palmikko fabric illustration, on show at the Habitare convention center during this year’s Helsinki Design and style Week. Somervuori—part of the Finnish collective Protoshop, which provides young designers with the chance to exhibit prototypes—has studied each furniture and textile style, and maintains an interest in each time-honored crafts and modern applications. “In my design and style operate I pick characteristics from traditional handicraft methods and combine them with a modern day technique – this forms my own hand print.” A wholly original hand print that, we admit, caught our eyes instantly.
