Unique Metal Staircase Design Allows to Add New Bedroom to Small Apartment

A metal staircase design with ladder like treads inside an iron frame add spaciousness, airy feel and unique look to upgraded apartment ideas. Weightless staircase design with a meal frame leads to a new top floor inside this renovated apartment in Milan by Italian architect Francesco Librizzi, www.francescolibrizzi.com/

A small apartment had just two rooms before renovation and redesign. The architect attractively inserted a mezzanine bedroom under the high ceilings. The staircase is designed from 14mm wide lengths of iron, which create ladder-like treads inside a rectilinear tower. The base of the metal staircase is screwed into the hexagonal concrete tiles that cover the floor and make the frame structure stable and strong.

The building is dated 1900. A tiny apartment with two rooms and a bathroom was transformed into a large home by unitizing space beneath the high ceiling. Antique windows, doors and floor tiles give big personality to this small apartment. The strong identity of the interior design allowed the dramatic intervention.

Unique metal staircase design creating access to mezzanine bedroom

Metal staircase design with ladder like treads and an inclined frame

Utilizing a hidden potential of a narrow and tall space and leaving antique architectural features and interior design materials untouched creates gorgeous new apartment with airy and light atmosphere and antique charm.

Adding a new bedroom and unique staircase design dramatically change the living space. Albino Celato has reinterpreted this historical detail and given us Foscari, a contemporary partition of either polished stainless steel or sheet metal with a polished black or painted finish. Although the classic detail dates back to the Renaissance, it has produced appearances throughout contemporary history in both furnishings and fashion and Celato’;s version is but the most current – and possibly the very best reinterpretation. The crisp lines of the metal enable for a fantastic shadow display as light travels via the partition and the reflective surface of the metal creates a stunning mirror reveal of things placed close by.
Every single metal plate consists of 1 complete detail and is connected in 4 locations to the surrounding metal plates by means of little S hooks. The holes the S hooks connect to, are strategically positioned to grow to be component of the general detail when left exposed. This clever use of detail turned function is a essential portion of the all round design. With the connector holes in a position to stay unused, the partition can be customized to any size for any place.
The silhouette of the detail is intricate and exciting and even one metal plate would make a great addition to a small void but the effect made by a complete partition is what tends to make this design and style specific. No matter whether the constructive shapes of the plates or the damaging shapes created by light and shadow, the Foscari from De Castelli is a best decision for any classic or modern interior. Hamptons Beach Property With Sophisticated Metal Screen

It is difficult to think that this serene New York beachfront property, made by Aamodt Plumb Architects, is just an hour and half from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Tucked peacefully on a narrow barrier island at the southern shore of Extended Island, this oceanfront house was made for rest and relaxation, but posed some complicated obstacles – namely the hard coastal climate. The narrow web site puts neighbors close by on either side, posing one more difficulty when it came to privacy. The architects created a design that responds to the weather situations, the neighbors and the gorgeous setting with a program that is private and protected, yet open at the same time. Resolving all these issues, with an sophisticated twist, is a modern metal screen. Aptly named Hamptons Beach Property, there is much more to this spot than meets the eye. Here’;s the tour.

The architects clarify, “The outcome was to produce a hard exterior shell with an open, light-filled interior.
