A quite skilled paper crafter certainly and of course I had to share her with you.<br />I wonder how extended it takes to make one flower?!<br />I completely enjoy the aqua and pink envelope, I believe I want to receive all my mail in brightly coloured envelopes, such as bank statements. I may begin opening it all then haha. My mom and I both responded to the colors and movement in the painting above, plus my mother really loves the ocean so it was a perfect match. The artist, Pauline, spoke about her work at opening night. We were surprised to discover that she is not a big fan of the water. In fact, it scares her. You know that feeling you get when you attend a really fun party where everyone is dressed their best, people are relaxed, the food is delicious, and the drinks are<br />thirst-quenchingly good ... then all of a sudden, mid-conversation practically, you start to notice the music has been shut off and people that you hadn’t even gotten a chance to say hello to are putting down their glasses and are embracing the host with a fond farewell??? Then you start to think, is it really over already? Next the lights come on, food is being Saran-wrapped, and you figure it must be time to go.<br /><br />I really hate the end of a good party and that is how<br />the end of August feels to me. As I look around my summer garden, which I admit I did not tend to with half the enthusiasm as I had planned, I see that there are some dawdlers who have decided to stay on for awhile. I intend to enjoy their quiet company for at least a few more weeks, even though so many of their more colorful friends have come and gone. He watered it in its little styrofoam cup for over a month and then it was ready to transplant outdoors. After meeting at <a href="http://designvignettes.blogspot.com/2009/05/fairy-tale-event.html">last year’s North Shore Design Show</a> at the Wenham Museum, we quickly discovered that we both shared a love of gardening, along with a passion for old homes (she <a href="http://designvignettes.blogspot.com/2009/06/tablescapes-spotlight-kim-smith-for.html">has been creating beauty</a> inside and out at Willowdale Estate, while I have been involved with decorating projects at the <a href="http://designvignettes.blogspot.com/2010/02/valentines-day-at-stevens-estate.html">Stevens Estate</a>). Parking my car, I knew I was at the right place as I was greeted with a fluttering of butterflies around a rose-covered front porch. Bird song filled the air and a profusion of colors and scents beckoned. I know this sounds very “Disney-like</span><span style="font-size:130%;">”</span><span style="font-size:130%;"> but it really felt like walking into a secret oasis! I did not take interior photos during our visit as I was there simply to enjoy her company. We talked a lot about raising our children (she has two, a girl and a boy, that while still under her wing are much more independent than my four littles), the need to create (she is writing and illustrating a new book, this time for children), and a variety of other topics including why the bowl of fruit I brought was still slightly frozen (when you are undergoing kitchen renovations, one must improvise!)
