By Dutch designer Reinier de Jong, the original expanding bookcase was so well received that he designed a Junior size for his own 3-year-old. The animated illustration below shows the expansion/collapse. It’;s quite amazing how much bookcase you can create with very little effort (or how easily you can minimize the size). The design is simple and elegant and as you can see, fluid. The poplar plywood construction is sturdy but lightweight for moving, collapsing or expanding. Available in white and various shades of gray as a standard, additional colors available upon request. The slender slots are perfect for magazines (or in the case of the Junior bookcase, comic and coloring books). This bookcase is at home wherever you want to put it and at whatever size fits the space. Fluid and flexible, lightweight and easily expanded or contracted – it’;s a bookcase for your ever-changing collection.<br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /> This awesome bookcase expands and collapses!<br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb_.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /><br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb__.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /> Kids have fun expanding and collapsing the REK Junior bookcase!<br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb___.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /><br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb____.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /> You can change the size of individual shelves to suit the books.<br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="315" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb_____.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /> The Junior is available in two sizes, the Original in one.<br/><img alt="rek expanding bookcase original and junior thumb REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="472" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rek-expanding-bookcase-original-and-junior-thumb______.jpg" style="" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="630" /> More information: Reiner de Jong<br/><img alt="picture 7669 REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " height="1" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/picture-7669.jpg" title="REK Expanding Bookcase By Reiner De Jong others " width="1" /><br/>

The Concave Bookcase by Simon Pengelly by means of Joined + Jointed is a ideal instance of the transformation. With its concave vertical divisions the shelving unit is a lot more art kind then it is shelving unit. Created in two halves it can be utilised as a single unit lining a wall – or, as in this case, two separate shelving systems. In this photo the two halves are on opposite ends of the area and develop a sense of continual flow that is broken by the crisp lines of the sofa and chair. The contrast continues with the off white linen sofa upholstery and the Walnut veneer on the shelves. The Concave Bookcase also comes in an Oak veneer and pairing the oak with a dark brown or black upholstered or leather sofa can accomplish the exact same impact. Whichever selection of wood utilised, the curved vertical support program to the shelves creates a enjoyable and lively spot to show books, mementos and collections. The phrase “Form Follows Function” is a perfect way to describe this sculpturally unique shelving unit. It would be pretty spectacular to see a total library outfitted in these shelves.<br/><img alt="two concave bookcases joined thumb Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " height="630" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/two-concave-bookcases-joined-thumb.jpg" style="" title="Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " width="630" /><br/><img alt="two concave bookcases separated thumb Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " height="630" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/two-concave-bookcases-separated-thumb.jpg" style="" title="Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " width="630" /> Joined + Jointed<br/><img alt="picture 9268 Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " height="1" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/picture-9268.jpg" title="Sculpturally Creative Concave Bookcase By Joined + Jointed others " width="1" />
