The Danish architectural firm NORM doesn’t beat around the bush when explaining its mission: “To uncover the simplest shape for a provided job with out forgetting the beauty of the shape and the particulars…to attain a point where there is practically nothing to add and practically nothing to take away that can make the solution better.”
Nicely, much better mentioned than done—unless you’re NORM, which does precisely what it says, as evidenced by interior function for the Copenhagen restaurant Höst. It’s tough to think about how this meticulously nuanced space—invoking quasi-rural vignettes of weathered materials, industrial components, and painterly monochchromes—could possibly have been carried out far better.
